In Death

In death, certain things became clearer.

Like it really didn't matter whether he beat Kavanagh to the next, great Atlantis discovery. Like he could have waited for Zelenka to finish his sentences, each one a linguistic struggle, before interrupting. Like he never had any real hope of hooking up with Dumais, since she could do so much better.

Like most people on Atlantis were really as intimidated by the city as everyone else. Even McKay, despite all his posturing.

Like how short life really was.

Like how much it hurt, having to be the hero.
